Markymerc’s Eclectic Picks
I know I’m breaking genres here, but when it comes to music lovers, its not necessarily the genre that counts. I always try to judge my music on what it does for me– Does it make me feel something that most other songs don’t? Is this a song I can listen to again and again, and will I still appreciate it in years to come? I’ve decided to pick three completely unrelated tracks to highlight some of the variety of electronic music that is out there.
My first pick is by Royksopp “What else is there” remixed by the great Trentemoller. What I love about this track are the unique vocals, and how even a dark song can make me want to just jump up and down and rock it.
My second pick is the Danny Lohner remix of “Judith” by A Perfect Circle. I’ve always been a big fan of Tool, who’s singer then moved on to form a additional group: A Perfect Circle. Of course Tool, and A Perfect Circle are really in the rock music genre, but I’m quite partial to this remix. It’s hard as hell, and the bass really thumps, all while keeping the atmosphere of the original song.
My last pick is from Simian Mobile Disco: “I believe” Simian Mobile Disco has a really interesting variety of tracks. “I believe” is a deceptively simple, and yet melodically beautiful nonetheless.
Enjoy,
