Recently Hyperbits had one of their tracks on my Top 5 tracks of the month on USTM – it’s a mash-up of the Norin & Rad jam “Bloom” mixed with the sultry vocals of Zedd’s “Clarity.” I stopped by to check out how it works live, and the crowd received it very well!
Hyperbits, composed of Serik Slobodskoy and Robert Palliser, have been working their way up in the local New York scene for roughly a year and a half. They took the decks around 1:30 to a packed club and banged out hit after hit. Picks of the night included their own single “Move” on Auryn Music, the Chris Lake remix of “Beachball,” Axwell’s “Sweet Disposition,” and many other hits. When the duo dropped their mash-up of Clarity vs. Bloom, the crowd definitely felt it as much as I did a little while back. A testament to their great track selection, they went from the mash-up into the popular Coldplay vs. Language. Check it out:
After that, the crowd was in the palm of their hands for the rest of the night. At well past 3 in the morning hundreds of people were still present in the club, waving the giant tube glow sticks that seem to come out of thin air at the Santos Party House. Hyperbits themselves were absolutely reeling with enthusiasm, continually tapping me and exciting themselves once they realized which track or drop was going to occur next. When it was time for Qulinez – Troll, Rob could not stop yelling and jumping behind the decks.
The event was a great success, and the energy high and consistent throughout the night. The batteries didn’t give out then, as they went on to play 2 more shows (with Tim Mason & a New Years Eve Event) before finishing 2012. Keep up with Hyperbits on their pages below to see what they have coming in 2013!
