Who is Verboten?
“The Verboten brand began in reaction to the conservative, bottle service focused climate that had turned Manhattan nightlife into a shadow of its former self. The ongoing party series was dedicated to bringing musical credibility, professionalism and excitement back to a hand-picked selection of venues. Verboten’s fictional world, as it appears in our club visuals and flyers, is a dystopian surveillance state set in a decayed urban landscape. “Verboten,” German for “forbidden,” evokes this concept and our techno programming perfectly.
Verboten is now a major force in the New York dance music scene with over 75 events and 250 top-tier DJs booked annually. It attracts a discerning crowd of music fans, Europeans, hipsters, freaks, party girls & industry types to big room clubs, intimate Sunday night “Disasters,” and special one-off events including festivals and boat parties. ”
It took tINI only a few years of playing in clubs to become one of Germany’s most highly acclaimed female artists in techno and house music. In 2008 tINI joined Desolat and the Artist Alife family, after she caught attention of Loco Dice during few performances at the same spots. Becoming a constant part of the worldwide Desolat nights by that time, her profile assumed shape, while more and more clubs became aware of the curly haired talent with that powerful, vivid temper, who intuitionally knows how to enchant her crowd whether during smart-building warm-up or igniting main-time sessions. Residencies for Ibiza’s original Ushuaia, London’s in-demand “Fuse” events and Cocorico in Italy plus being the official tour support for Marco Carola on his worldwide album presentation were just a few highlights of recent months.
As the late Oscar Wilde once said: “life is too important to be taken seriously”, an ethos that Justin Martin is sticking with despite achieving soaring success over the last six years as a producer and international DJ. Feeding off the energy of the San Francisco underground and mentored by fellow super producer Claude VonStroke, Justin was intrinsically involved with the development of dirtybird records. Music journalists typically describe Justin’s sound as ‘melodic and tough’ with his music encapsulating both melody and emotional depth yet always with enough undeniable ass shaking properties to translate to the floor.
