Chris Schweizer has been on my radar ever since his festival smashing remix of Zombie Nation – Kernkfraft 400. I’m pretty sure Dash Berlin is STILL playing that in his sets, and it was released years ago. He’s got some great aggressive basslines that singe and stutter in a very unique way.
Yesterday saw the release of Chris Schweizer’s EP of “Now Or Never” and “Alive” on Armada Music. Both tracks are solid productions and a testament to the skill in the craft of beatmaking that we’ve been seeing from Buenos Aires and South America recently (in fact, we just listened to Markus Schulz’s “Buenos Aires ’13” compilation — so stay tuned for a review of that!). “Alive” features some great rock-style breaks which has been a hallmark of Chris’ style, as well that sweet bass I was telling you about.
It also has a warm male vocal sample and a cheery lead that makes this a track that would definitely go off during a daytime festival performance.
“Now or Never” is a bit more on the Trancy side, in the sense that it whips out the rolling bassline and rapid percussion. Whereas Alive has more of a banger feel to it, Now or Never takes it’s time with carefully layered synths and the occasional burst of electro yoi-type sounds to keep the listener’s ears perked.
Altogether it’s a dynamic EP that merges several different kinds of energy, and a great representation of what this young talent has to offer if this is your first time coming across his music!
Chris has also released a track “Nasty” with the infamous Heatbeat and will be doing a follow-up to his track “Darksiders” with Thomas Heredia soon. So keep an eye out!
