Saturday October 19th 2013 was an eventful and busy night for the famous New York City club, Webster Hall. The massive 4 level nightclub has multiple events going on each night and on some nights it’s a struggle to choose which level to party on! Every Saturday night BASSment Saturdays hosted by the Bass Bunnies and resident Dj Subset throw a wild and bass pounding party. This week they brought Porn & Chicken with South Central as the headliners. While the BASSment party was going the grand ballroom was throwing their weekly party called ‘Brite Nites’. This event dazzles the crowd with lights, aerialists, beautiful dancers, great sound systems and great line ups. Valentino Khan, David Heartbreak, LOUDPVCK and a special Pendulum Dj set were all ready to throw down amazing sets!
Down in the BASSment Subset started off the night around 11pm playing a variety of genres from bouncy deep house beats to dubstep to electro and anything he knows will make people move. Porn and Chicken graced the stage with a memorable performance around 1230am! Dom and Orville of Porn and Chicken both had extremely high energy, were bouncing around the stage and hyping up the crowd. Orville sporting a huge mohawk and Dom with his cheetah pattern hair due fit right in with the craziness that goes on this BASSment. This included champagne showers, alcohol spitting and lots of love from everyone in attendance.
While the BASSment was going off with their party the grand ballroom was starting off their night with David Heartbreak from 12am to 1am. He happens to be a New York native and is currently signed with OWSLA records. David Heartbreak had an amazing set, switching from some trap tunes like ‘Bugatti remix’ to his own glitch-hop, electro, house style tracks. David Heartbreak has such a diverse sound; this man could make any type of music. LOUDPVCK stepped up to the grand ballroom stage next and was able to get the crowd even rowdier. LOUDPVCK is made up of Kenny Beats who provides the Hip-Hop influence and Ryan Marks bringing the electro creating some of your favorite trap tunes. LOUDPVCK not only played a trap style set but added dubstep and bouncy house music. These two won’t get TRAPPED in a genre so don’t label them. Labels are for boxes and these two are so fun and outside the box, they WILL surprise you. A LOUDPVCK set will you have you getting low to some slow trap bangers then raging.
Back down in the BASSment South Central took the stage around 1:30am; both Rob and Keith were amped and ready to go. The duo is from Brighton, Britain (UK). Multiple music genres are played during their performances, which include rock, electronic, house and creating new tracks on the spot! It was in Paris when the duo was spotted by The Prodigy and has since toured with them, Pendulum, and supported acts like Rage Against the Machine and Vitalic. South Central showed up in their trademark hoods, and had the crowd going wild during their entire set. They just released an extended EP last week, “Run Hide Survive” out on Dim Mak records! Tracks on their new EP include “Drop It”, “WTF U Lookin At” and “Invasion”. The duo has been touring all over the world and you should defiantly keep your eye on them!
For those familiar with Pendulum know it was a very special night for Webster Hall. Pendulum is a six piece band that took a break from producing together while members worked on other projects like Knife Party. Tonight Paul ‘El Hornet’ Harding took the dj table accompanied by Ben Verse as the MC reuniting Pendulum as a Dj set. It was incredible to see these two together again after a long hiatus. The Grand Ballroom was packed and after hearing sets from David Heartbreak, LOUDPVCK, and Pendulum the anticipation was in full effect for Valentino Khan. With the crowd still going crazy, Valentino Khan took the stage at 3am. Valentino is a DJ and Music Producer from Los Angeles, California. He has produced music for multi-platinum hip-hop artists B.o.B, T.I., Bruno Mars, 2 Chainz & Tyga. Valentino has shown remarkable versatility throughout the music industry, from his work as a producer to also maintaining quality through his hip-hop and EDM work. Looking out into the Grand Ballroom during Valentino’s set, the crowd was amped- jumping and dancing around to his beats. Valentino showcased his sound from moombahton to dubstep and house! Between the BASSment Saturdays party and the Brite Nites event in the grand ballroom, it’s a tossup between which show to attend. The great thing about that though is, you don’t have to! Plan out your night before to ensure you catch your favorite artists, set times are always posted prior!
