On Thursday, November 14th Steez Promo will be enriching Philadelphia’s bourgeoning electronic scene yet again with another installment of Bass Nation. This go around the City of Brotherly Love has the honor of welcoming a member of the drum and bass elite, and a true dubstep revolutionary, Doctor P.
The good doctor, producer and DJ Shaun Brockhurst, soared from his humble beginnings in the UK to international fame by exploring and furthering a bass heavy, then subgenre of DnB, called dubstep. After dropping original tunes like “Sweet Shop” in 2010, and later “Tetris” and “Neon,” his music became an essential part of every DJ’s setlist while dubstep became a pervasive influence in all types of music worldwide. Now producing under his own label, Circus Records (cofounded by childhood friend Flux Pavilion), Doctor P continues to collaborate with huge name artists, recently w/ Adam F and Method Man on the track “The Pit” (released by Circus Records). Doctor P is making an ongoing and evolving contribution to the world of electronic music and, gratefully, now to Philly’s reputation as a city with a revitalized and reinvented electronic music scene.
Soundgarden Hall has already had a killer fall schedule, boasting the likes of Adventure Club, Madeon, and Flux Pavilion (in just the past two weeks!). They keep up their reputation as an innovative and exciting addition to Philadelphia’s live music scene with yet another exciting lineup that also includes Mayhem and Shy Kidx. The venue has amazing sound, a light show fully integrated into the space, as well as a 21+ elevated VIP viewing area for those who like to watch the madness at a safe distance. Yes, it’s a weeknight, but Thursday night is a can’t-miss, because Bass Nation is always a hell of a party, and this time it’s Doctor P’s turn to get y’all turnt up.
