With the release of their first studio album, Abandon Ship, the duo known as Knife Party have set plans for a tour across North America. They began 2015 fairly strong, with an awesome appearance on HOLY SHIP in January- some fans think their album may be a homage to their first experience at the on sea fest. Later this year, they will of course be returning to their native country for Future Music Fest in both Sydney and Perth, Australia. As for their tour stops in North America, Knife Party will be stopping in San Fran, Denver, Toronto and New York City! Next Friday, January 23rd Webster Hall’s Girls and Boys will be featuring them as the headlining act. Supporting acts include Cash Cash and Pierce Fulton.
Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen met in 2002 and started off performing with different bands before the formation of Pendulum. After gaining much fame and notoriety in the drum and bass genre, they eventually decided to embark on side project. Though their chosen name caused a bit of friction in the early stages of production, they soon created a huge buzz in the EDM circuit. Their songs infuse many genres while maintaining a signature harder style akin to rock and roll.
Since their inception, the duo has gone on to produce three EPs that have laid a very strong foundation for them. Abandon Ship is no different; with club bangers like “Boss Mode” and “Give It Up” their fan base just continues to grow exponentially. If you’re a fan of dubstep, trap, electro and anything with bass be sure to catch Knife Party next week at Webster Hall’s Grand Ballroom! Tickets are still on sale but, their selling quickly.
